有一天，一個五十多歲的傳統婦人，經人介紹找到水蓮齋主。

當這婦人費力的、斷斷續續的從喉間“擠”出發音扭曲的敘述後，才知道，原來，她罹患說話困難的症狀，已經有兩三年之久了，開始時較輕微，到後來愈來愈嚴重，嚴重到不止話說不大出來，而且說話時也因嚴重的氣喘，而帶動著胸腹中一種被擠壓而連帶全身的痛苦，雖然看遍中西醫，仍然找不出真正的病因。□

水蓮齋主說，這婦人罹患說話困難的症狀，肇因於前世“不好好說話”的業報。□

在前世，這婦人是一男子，但口德極差，稍不如意即破口罵人，而且喜歡在背後說人是非，至於挑撥離間更是能事，終其一生，以□恨、嫉妒的心胸，善說話的嘴巴，不知造下多少的“口業”。以至今世遭此報應。
每個人都只有一張嘴巴，兩片唇，所有寬柔的言語，誠實的言語，禮貌的言語，安慰的言語，稱讚的言語，都是由人的嘴巴說出來的。而所有刻薄的言語、欺詐的言語、滷莽的言語、打擊的言語、毀謗的言語，也都是由人的嘴巴說出來的。
